The Village Hall is back in use following the completion of a further two phases of its refurbishment. It was handed back to the Management Committee in mid June by builder David Duffy complete with new front entrance and lobby, enlarged storeroom, and new ladies and disabled toilets at the rear of the hall. The new lobby will be open every day and will provide information for visitors and residents on local events, walking routes, parish news etc.
A big thank you to David and his building team, to Carpenter Oak for their very generous donation of the oak lobby front, and to all who have made donations, large and small, financial and otherwise, towards the completion of a very successful and pleasing project.
A huge thanks also to Pat and Paul Heighway; Pat for the exhaustive work required to raise funds from a maze of funding organisations, and Paul for the building designs, architectural work and project management. Pat, Iím sure, will be thankful to resume sleeping at night and Paul can go back to his day job.
An event will be held later in the year, possibly September, to officially reopen the Hall and raise, hopefully, more desperately needed funds for two further projects, upgrade of the heating system and re-roofing, (critical within the next 3/5 years).
In the meantime enjoy the changes and please use the Hall as much as possible.
Vice Chairman, Village Hall Committee
